Veterans Resource Center
Library - Adult
Location: Central Library
Veterans and their families are welcome to drop in. Volunteers (trained by CalVet) are on-hand to answer basic questions about benefits, provide referrals and help with job searching, and more. Open Monday - Thursday 10am-2pm, Friday 10am-5pm. Located in the Mezzanine.

Whittier Accessibility Committee Meeting
Parks, Recreation & Community Services - Community Services
The Committee is composed of community members and professionals, both disabled and able-bodied, who devote their time and efforts into making the City of Whittier a “barrier-free” community.  The Committee is made up of seven official members and many part-time volunteers.  Committee members or community volunteers also have the option of serving on Subcommittees or task forces to respond to more specific access issues. Meetings are held quarterly on the 4th Tuesday of January, April, July and October at the Uptown Senior Center.

Children are welcome to practice their reading skills with friendly, certified therapy dogs.  Studies show that practicing reading aloud to these sweet, non-judgmental animals, helps kids gain confidence and boosts their reading skills.

City Council Meeting
Mayor & City Council - Meetings
The City Council serves as the City’s primary policy-making and legislative body. The City Council also serves as the Board of Directors for the Whittier Housing Authority, Whittier Public Financing Authority, Whittier Redevelopment Successor Agency, and Whittier Utility Authority. The City Council adopts the City's annual operating budget and capital improvement program.
