Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan Update

Posted On: September 22, 2015

The City of Whittier is in the process of updating its 2010 Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan (NHMP) or “Hazard Mitigation Plan.” The document was prepared in response to Congress’ Disaster Mitigation Act (DMA) of 2000. The DMA requires State and local governments to prepare hazard mitigation plans to document their hazard mitigation planning process and identify hazards, potential losses, mitigation needs, goals, and strategies. This type of planning supplements the City’s comprehensive emergency management program. Public input on the City's Draft 2015 Hazard Mitigation Plan is encouraged.
