Long-Term Lane Closures on Imperial Highway

Posted On: February 28, 2014

Begin on Monday, March 3

Santa Ana Freeway (I-5) South Corridor Improvement Projects

Norwalk – Caltrans will close one lane in both directions of Imperial Highway,  between the Imperial Highway bridge and Pioneer Boulevard, for three months beginning Monday, March 3 and continuing until June, 2014.

The closure involves construction work to widen Imperial Highway and reconstruct the sidewalks.

The far right lane (#3) will be closed in both the westbound and eastbound directions:

  • One westbound lane on Imperial Highway will be closed from the Imperial Highway bridge to Pioneer Boulevard.
  • One eastbound lane on Imperial Highway will be closed from just before the Imperial Highway bridge to Paddison Avenue.

Motorists, pedestrians and emergency responders will have access at all times during the temporary closures.  Local commuters are encouraged to allow extra travel time to arrive at their destination.

The work is part of the $1.6 billion Santa Ana Freeway (I-5) HOV Widening Projects to construct one carpool and one general purpose lane in each direction from the Los Angeles/Orange County line to Interstate 605.

The motoring public, residents and businesses are encouraged to sign-up for regular notification on street, freeway and ramp closures by calling the toll-free I-5 South Corridor Improvement Projects Information line (855) 454-6335 or visiting http://www.i-5info.com/
