DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint Planned this Weekend
September 18, 2014  Whittier, CA – The Whittier Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday September 19, 2014, at an undisclosed location within the city limits of Whittier between the hours of 7:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.

September 16, 2014  On Saturday September 27, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Whittier Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its ninth opportunity in four years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your medications for disposal to Whittier City Hall located at 13230 Penn St., Whittier, California. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

Shooting in Whittier
August 30, 2014 

At 12:11 pm, Whittier Police Officers responded to the 8000 block of Washington Avenue, in the city of Whittier, regarding a subject who had been shot. Upon arrival, the officers located the victim, who was non-responsive. Officers initiated CPR. The victim was transported to USC Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The victim is a male, 34 years of age and is a resident of Whittier. The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notification. The investigation is ongoing.

August 28, 2014  Whittier, CA – Labor Day weekend is coming up. For many Americans, that means an extra day off, backyard and beach barbecues, visiting friends and family, and the unofficial end of the summer season. Unfortunately, it also means a sharp increase in drunk-driving-related fatalities. Now through Labor Day, September 1, Whittier Police Department will be aggressively targeting drunk and drugged drivers as part of a nationwide effort to end impaired driving and save lives. The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign will pair increased public awareness with high-visibility enforcement, resulting in fewer drunk drivers on our streets.

August 21, 2014  On Thursday August 21, 2014 at approximately 1:11am, Whittier officers responded to 11876 South Circle Drive regarding possible marijuana grow.

Update on Missing Juvenile
August 1, 2014  Catherine Tinnes returned home at approximately 4pm on July 31, 2014 unharmed.

Attempting to Locate Missing Female
July 19, 2014 

The Whittier PoliceDepartment is seeking the assistance from the public in locating a missingchild. Catherine Tinnes, a Whittier resident, is a 12-year-old female,described as being 5-08, 170 pounds, having long straight brown hair, browneyes, wearing a white tank top, pink shorts and brown sandals. She was lastseen on July 18, 2014 around 11:50pm at her parents’ house.

UPDATE: Missing Female Located
July 19, 2014 

On July 19, 2014 at approximately 11:20am, missing Catherine Tinnes was located at a relative’s house in Montebello, California. Tinnes is in good health and unharmed.
