Whittier Police Investigate Recovered Stolen Truck Abandoned on Railroad Tracks

Posted On: June 29, 2017

On 06/29/17 at approximately 5:00 pm, officers were   dispatched to the 14700 block of Spring St. in the City of Santa Fe Springs   regarding an abandoned truck. The passenger side of the truck was partially   resting upon a set of seldom used railroad tracks used for utility purposes   only. Officers immediately confirmed the truck was unoccupied and that there   were no trains scheduled on today’s date.

Upon further investigation it was learned the “company” truck   was stolen earlier in the morning from the San Pedro area and contained several   55 gallon containers of fuel, which were still present during the   investigation. As a precaution, the Los Angeles County Arson and Explosive   Detail responded, cleared the containers and confirmed they were safe to remove   and transport. The stolen truck described as a Red 2002 Ford F-150 was   recovered at the scene and the registered owner has been notified.
