| |  | | Whittier Police Looking for Kidnapping Suspect
Posted On: February 21, 2013 The Whittier Police Department is attempting to identify a kidnapping suspect. On Thursday, February 21st, 2013 at approximately 2:35pm, an 11-year-old female walking alone was grabbed and put into the back seat of a car. While inside, she noticed a younger female, approximately 7-years-old, in the back seat crying. The 11-year-old was able to get out of the car freeing herself and the other female. They both ran in opposite directions. This occurred to the front of Founders Park near the intersection of Broadway and Citrus St. The 11-year-old was able to find her way home and called police. However, the other unidentified younger female’s whereabouts are unknown. At this time, the Whittier Police Department has not received any reports of missing children. Additionally, both victims do not know each other and the 11-year-old female did not sustain any injuries. A similar suspect was reported on Tuesday, February 5th, 2013 at 11:25 am. On this date, the incident occurred in the area of 13000 Broadway, which is near Broadway Park and several blocks from Founders Park, where today’s incident occurred. On this occasion a 17-year-old female was walking alone when the suspect pulled his car over and asked her if she wanted a ride. After the victim told him no, he proceeded to stop the car and open the door. The female fled and called the police. Also on February 5th, 2013 at 4:40pm a witness called reporting a suspect attempting to contact two females. The witness was in the area of 6709 Washington Ave, which is across the street from Central Park, observed two unknown high-school-aged girls get into a verbal confrontation with the suspect who told them to get into his car. The suspect fled the area. The witness was not able to get the names of the girls and the police department received no calls from the alleged victims in this case. The Whittier Police Department does believe these incidents are connected. In all three cases, the suspect was last seen driving an unknown make or model red convertible with a tan roof. The common suspect description is that of a male, Hispanic, 25-35 years of age, 5’11”-6’00”, medium to heavy build. In the most recent incident, the female victim described the suspect as having short black hair, with a tattoo of three dots on his left hand. All Whittier School District superintendents have been notified. The Whittier Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect and vehicle.
