Man gets hit by train and loses arm

Posted On: May 9, 2012

Santa Fe Springs, CA--Officers respond to the area of Rosecrans and Marquardt around 3:50 am after callers report a man bleeding severly and missing an arm.  When officers arrive the victim flees the location for unknown reasons and is detained.  He is sent to a local trauma center for his injury along with his missing limb in hopes of reattaching it.  The limb was found near the railroad tracks in the area.  A full investigation is pending, but it appears the La Mirada resident was at a bar in Montebello earlier in the evening and was invovled in a fight.  He was sent to a local hospital for those injuries and fled from the hospital.  It is unknown how he got to Santa Fe Springs but it appears he may have been hit by a train.  The male individual in his late 20's is not being identified at this time, but his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.  The Whittier Traffic Bureau is investigating the incident.
