🚧 Street improvements coming to Whittier!
The City of Whittier has awarded a contract to Pavement Coatings Company for Phase 1 of the Slurry Seal Program, which includes crack sealing, slurry sealing, and striping on streets throughout the city.
🗓️ Work begins Monday, November 3, 2025
🕖 Project Hours: Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–4 p.m.
Please note that temporary and full street closures will be required during construction. Traffic control will be in place to assist drivers as work moves through the project area.
👉 While the contractor begins preparation work on November 3, slurry seal application will start November 12.
Letters will be sent to impacted residents, and a 72-hour notice will be provided before street access is affected.
ℹ️ What is slurry seal?
Slurry seal is a thin protective layer made of asphalt, water, and fine rock that’s applied over existing pavement to seal cracks, protect against weather, and extend the life of each street.
This is a moving operation, with crack sealing and paint removal taking place ahead of slurry work. If you live, work or drive in the highlighted areas, please note construction zones will move periodically.

Thank you for your patience as we continue improving Whittier’s streets!
