UPDATE: East Whittier Brush Fire

The City of Whittier is aware of the brush fire that occurred near Colima Road and the Murphy Ranch baseball fields on Monday, June 22, 2026

As of 5:00 p.m., Los Angeles County Fire Department reports the fire is approximately 80% contained and forward progress has been stopped. There is currently no threat to structures.

There are no evacuation orders for the City of Whittier at this time. Evacuation notifications issued earlier by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department were limited to nearby unincorporated Los Angeles County areas.

Los Angeles County Fire Department and Puente Hills Habitat Authority crews remain on scene and are expected to continue operations overnight. Colima Road remains closed in the area as emergency personnel complete suppression and monitoring efforts.

Residents are asked to continue avoiding the area and to follow directions from emergency personnel. Additional updates will be shared.
