Whittier, CA — At the past two City Council meetings, members of the Whittier City Employees' Association (WCEA) addressed the City Council during the public comment portion of the meetings. The City Council remains committed to the collective bargaining process and to negotiating in good faith with the WCEA. Because negotiations are ongoing, the City is unable to discuss specific proposals or the details publicly. Maintaining the integrity of the negotiation process is important to ensuring productive and respectful discussions between the parties.

The City Council also respects the rights of employees to attend Council meetings and express their views during public comment. We appreciate hearing from members of our workforce and recognize their participation as an important part of the public process.

The City remains committed to working through the negotiation process in a professional and respectful manner and looks forward to reaching an agreement.
