General Municipal Elections

The City’s General Municipal Elections are held on the second Tuesday of April in even-numbered years. In addition, Special Elections are held when called by the City Council.

The next General Municipal Election will be held in April 2020.

Districts

On June 3, 2014, Whittier voters approved a Charter Amendment to elect Council Members from four geographically defined districts. A city-wide mayor position was also established.

District boundaries were set with expert assistance to adhere to state law and after community input on what neighborhoods should stay together.
