General Municipal Elections
The City’s General Municipal Elections are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of March in even-numbered years. In addition, Special Elections are held when called by the City Council.
On June 3, 2014, Whittier voters approved a Charter Amendment to elect Council Members from four geographically defined districts. A city-wide mayor position was also established.
District boundaries were set with expert assistance to adhere to state law and after community input on what neighborhoods should stay together.
Voter registration is available through the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk or by calling 1-800-815-2666. Voter registration forms can also be picked up from City Hall, Whittier Libraries, and post offices.
